I first discovered illustrator Sarah McNeil’s work around five years ago, and have been dreaming of having her draw one of her custom pet portraits of my dog ever since. How fab are they?
Sarah describes her work as being inspired by ‘noticing the small details of things, and by the relationships of living things to natural and unnatural environments’. As a nature lover, I find myself wanting to inhabit Sarah’s gorgeous world of animals and flowers.
She really captures the personality of all her subjects, be they dogs, cats, people, rabbits or ducklings.
You can see more of Sarah’s work on her Etsy, including her mini zines, and the most adorable colour block mittens that she makes. Who doesn’t need more mittens in their life?
Do you love work inspired by nature? How would your pet look in one of Sarah portraits?
Thanks to Sarah for giving me permission to use her images. You can check out Sarah’s flickr here.
