So, my latest craft project my have got a little out 0f hand in the ‘nanna-chic’ department. Behold, the Granny Square Wall Hanging.
I have been doing a lot of labour intensive crafting of late, so I wanted to just let go and do something a bit wild and bit silly, without much of a plan. I had half an idea, a crochet hook, and a lot of yarn lying around, and this was the end result.
Side note – how great is crochet? Crochet used to be my jam (after needle felting that is…ahhh, craft love affairs of the past), but I’ve hardly crocheted a thing since I took up weaving and I forgot how fast and fun it can be. Granny squares also require no planning or warping. Added bonus.
I briefly considered turning this into a DIY tutorial post, but I don’t think it’s necessary. The only thing you might like to know is that I used a bit of curtain rod from Bunnings (good ol’ Bunnings) to hang it, but other than that, if you know how to crochet and need something totally nanna to adorn your walls, you can make this with ease and customise it to your heart’s content. And if you do feel inspired to do so, I would love to see your results!
If you’re not a crocheter but find yourself in an emergency ‘nanna-wall-adornment’ situation, this lady is also available in my Etsy store (click here). Have you been doing any weird or wild craft experiments lately? Do tell!
